SCIMAT' 2017 WAS THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SCIENCE MATTERS. THE FIVE PREVIOUS CONFERENCES TOOK PLACE IN PORTUGAL, THUS REINFORCING THE INNOVATIVE NATURE OF THE PORTUGUESE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY.

1. The first conference on Science Matters was at Ericeira, Cascais 28-31 October 2007 on the theme Science Matters Humanities as Complex Systems. See more at :

2. The second event took place in Estoril 5-7 October 2009 on the theme: Arts & Science, the humanities as science matters

3. The third Science Matters conference took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon, on 21-23 November 2011 on the theme: All About Science, philosophy, history, sociology & comunication.

4. The fourth Science Matters Conference took place at Casa do Infante, in O'Porto, on 15-17 October 2013 on the theme: Humanities as Science Matters.

5. The fifth Sxcience Matters Conference took place at Estalagem Muchaxo, in Cascais on 28-30 October 2015 on the theme: Interdisciplinary Education

6. The sixth Science Matters Conference took place at Cascais Cultural Centre in Cascais on 25-27 October 2017 on the theme: Bettering Humanity Historic Secular Movements.
